The Little Athletics Summer Season – Competitions Start – Saturday 7th October 2023

The Little Athletics calendar is broken into two separate seasons. The first is the summer Track and Field season (October – March) where throwing, jumping and short to medium distance events are conducted, and the second is the winter (April – August) Cross Country Runs and Road Walks.

High Wycombe Little Athletics club is affiliated and part of the Belmont Athletics Centre (BAC) and they organise weekly Interclub competitions which are held every Saturday at the Gerry Archer Athletics Track in Belmont.

These programmed track and field competitions alternate between three programs (A, B & C). Each program will see your child compete in 3-4 events against different kids from other clubs. This allows athletes to compete in each event up to four times over the season.

Note: Programs are subject to change by the Arena Manager on the day of competition or by the Executive Committee prior to competition. Clubs will be advised through their Club Manager of program changes where possible.

  • Parent & Athlete Code of Conduct

    Parents & Guardians

    Parent’s & Guardian’s Code of Conduct

In addition to Athletics West General Code of Conduct, you must meet the following requirements with regard to your conduct during any activity held by or under the auspices of Athletics West, Member Centres or Clubs in your role as a parent/guardian:

    • Encourage your child to participate but do not force them. Remember children are involved in Little Athletics for their enjoyment, not yours.
    • Focus upon your child’s efforts and performance rather than the overall outcome of the event. This assists your child in setting realistic goals related to his/ her ability by reducing the emphasis on winning.
    • Teach your child that an honest effort is as important as winning, so that the result of each event is accepted without undue disappointment.
    • Encourage your child to always participate according to the rules.
    • Be a model of good sports conduct for children to copy. Applaud good performances and effort by all little athletes.
    • Never ridicule, yell at or scold a little athlete for making a mistake or losing.
    • Never use bad language.
    • If you disagree with an official or coach raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than question their judgement and honesty in public.
    • Refrain from conduct which could be regarded as sexual harassment, discrimination, bullying or victimisation.
    • Recognise and respect the value and importance of volunteer administrators, coaches and officials. They give up their time and resources to provide recreational activities for little athletes and deserve your support.
    • Be courteous in communication with administrators, coaches, little athletes and officials. Teach your child to do the same.
    • Support the use of age appropriate development activities and modified rules.
    • Turn defeat into victory by encouraging your child to work towards skill improvement, good sportsmanship and attaining personal best performances.

    10. ALL CLUBS are responsible for cleaning up THEIR OWN club area each week.

  • Parent Roster

    Parent Roster

As Little Athletics is a totally voluntary, clubs cannot operate without the assistance of parents each week in fulfilling the many and varied duties required. These include officiating at an event, managing an age group, recording results, working in the canteen and assisting at training, just to name a few.

A roster for event days will be established each week and a parent from the family will be required to assist throughout the duration of that event. This will occur approximately every 2 to 3 weeks. This is a compulsory requirement.

When you are on roster, you are required to sign-on to that event at the Recorder’s desk. It’s basically “first in, first served” for the best positions

    The process on arrival is:

    • 1. Sign in at the Parent Roster’s desk (left hand side of canteen)
    • 2. Join the Key Official when your event/site number is announced
    • 3. Pack down your site when the last group has completed their event
    • 4. Return equipment back to the shed

If you know you are going away at any stage, can you please advise the club manager.

  • Car Parking

    Carpark

The carpark can be a huge nightmare for all that visit our Belmont Little Athletics Centre.
There are no markings for spots, so we rely on common sense (I know right)
So with my less than stellar photoshop abilities I have created a parking instructions guide.

Please park all around the edges, then two cars bumper to bumper in rows, just like at the shopping centre, then leave enough room for a driving lane. It doesn’t need to be huge, just like at the shops

Please don’t park so that the entrance/exit is blocked and leave enough room for vehicles so they can move around the carpark freely. Also please make sure you do not park in the driveway of the overflow carpark. You wouldn’t believe how often this happens. And under no circumstances are you to park anywhere there is red in the picture, this is all no parking and the City of Belmont will give you a lovely fine if you park on that side of the road surrounding the SES building.
