The motto of Little Athletics is 'Family, Fun and Fitness'.

Family

Family

The cornerstone of Little Athletics is family involvement in activity programs. Parents are encouraged to participate in all activities from Centre to National level.

Fun

Fun

With the focus on participation and personal improvement, Little Athletics encourages children to enjoy sporting activities, develop motor skills, enjoy social interaction in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.

Fitness

Fitness

The emphasis on developing a healthy attitude to physical fitness at an early age is the key to adopting good habits for life.

Athlete Development

Little Athletics provides a great environment for athletic development. While the emphasis in the younger age groups should be on fun and participation, as the athletes get older, there are opportunities for development, competition, and participation, depending on the Little Athlete’s interests. It is important that the level of activity, training, and competition is proportionate to the athlete’s chronological age and development stage.

Stages of Development

Little Athletics recognises that children are not simply small scale adults. As such, Little Athletics is divided into a number of stages, with the desired outcomes for each stage providing a suitable environment for the enjoyment and development of the participant. In combination, the stages provide a smooth progression to lifelong sporting activity, whether at a competitive or social level.
